Saw a very interesting graphic shared last week. This was posted by Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report. This is a ranking he shared off of parsely.com which shows the Top 10 External Referring websites on the web for that day. Basically that means what sites feed web users to other areas or links. The numbers below are pretty astounding…
Facebook and Google crush everybody. They combine for 73% of the space. In other words, if somebody clicked something to go to your site, 3 out of 4 of those people came from either Facebook or Google. Amazing that 3rd place, Twitter, completely drops off from 34% for 2nd place all the way down to less than 3% for third place.
What’s even more amazing is that Facebook beats Google. Google – the search engine that people go to for one reason – to search for links to other information. That website sends less people to other websites than Facebook.
Yes, let’s face it, Facebook isn’t the cool kid any more. But, Facebook’s share and reach and scope are unbelievable. They reach more eyeballs per month than Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram combined. Even on websites not named Facebook, the Like and Share buttons from Facebook are seen on 10 million other websites every day.
No matter what you sell or who you’re trying to reach – chances are they are on Facebook and they’re on there a lot. Do you have a plan to reach them?
